BOPP Packing Tape

BOPP Packing Tape

BOPP packing tapes are some of the most commonly used tapes in shipping and inventory management today, and with good reason. The special molecular structure and the resin stabilization of polypropylene offer excellent mechanical and optical properties, which are especially useful in a variety of applications, one of which is packaging.

The Material
BOPP packing tape is made from biaxial oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film. Polypropylene is a thermoplastic polymer (which means it is pliable above a certain temperature, and returns to the solid state after cooling). Now, biaxial oriented polypropylene is a PP film stretched according to the machine direction and across the machine direction. This increases the strength as well as the clarity of the film. The structure also makes the automated and manual application of the packaging tape easier.

Features and Performance
Its rugged structure and high tensile strength make it the ideal material for packaging and labeling. It is also resistant to abrasion, moisture and various chemical solvents. It is easy to coat, print and even to laminate, which make it ideal for the manufacture of custom packaging tape. The material also offers minimal elongation (only around 150%, on average), and is burst-resistant. It is also easy to slit.

The material is a thermoplastic polymer so it could work in higher and lower temperatures. Not all manufacturers provide tensile strength statistics but industrial grade packing tape should be able to bear longitudinal pressure of around 27 pounds per inch and 44 lbs. per inch, transverse.

The average application temperature range for 30-micron, standard thickness (1.9 to 2.2 MIL) BOPP packaging tapes is between 35 and 110 degrees F while the operating temperature range is at 20 to 150 degrees F.

Most BOPP films are also non-toxic and therefore safe to use. Some comply with environmental protection standards, and some are even made of recycled material.

Adhesives
BOPP packing tapes are coated with different types of adhesive. The most commonly used are hot melt synthetic rubber and acrylic. Hot melt adhesives are one of the most widely used because of the consistent, reliable and quick seals. This kind of adhesive quickly bonds to the surface and offers high tensile strength, which make it one of the best choices for securing shipment. It could adhere well to various surfaces including film and fiberboard.

Acrylic adhesives are another good option. They do not bond as quickly as hot melt adhesives (it has decent initial adhesion but it features gradual adhesion buildup that require around 24 hours to achieve maximum bond strength), but they have better heat, UV and shear resistance. This type of adhesive is recommended for heady-duty and long-term packaging.

Other adhesives include natural rubber, which has the same properties as hot melt synthetic rubber, except that it has better hold and could stick to dust, and heavy loads with various temperatures. Silicone adhesives are used too; it can be removed without leaving residue and is often used for applications that require exposure to extreme temperature.

Specifications
Most carrier or backing films have specs of 30 to 65 microns. The standard-duty tapes typically have thickness of around 2.0 MILs. Note that this already includes the carrier or backing film and the adhesive. Medium-duty packing tapes typically are around 2.6 MILs thick. Heavy duty adhesives have around 3.0 MILs (1 mil is 1/1000 of an inch).

These packing tapes come in various widths too, with the 2-inch variety being the standard. Packing tapes with widths of 3/8 to 4 inches could be purchased in bulk. Standard length is 110 yards but 55-yard rolls are available as well.

BOPP tapes typically come in the standard colors – clear and brown, although manufacturers now offer them in various colors such as red, pink, orange, yellow, green, black, white, purple and blue.

Types of BOPP Packing Tape
There are three major types of BOPP packing tape – transparent, colored and printed/customized. Transparent BOPP adhesive tapes are ideal for shipment with special care instructions or products with packaging that must remain visible. Colored BOPP packing tapes are handy for inventory management as they can be utilized as a product identification and organization tool. Custom packing tape contribute to a more efficient inventory management, but the printed message can also be handy in communicating special care instructions, and the custom design and message could help in advertising and building brand awareness.

Adhesive Duct Tape

Adhesive duct tape is one of the most useful types of pressure-sensitive tapes on the market today due to its durability and its wide range of potential uses. Duct tape usually carries some type of cloth or scrim (fabric) backing, and is normally coated with a malleable plastic material known as low-density polyethylene. A variety of backing materials and adhesives can be used to comprise what is loosely called “duct tape,” but common characteristics include superior strength, flexibility, and higher-than-average stickiness. Duct tape is usually either grey or black, but it is available in a variety of other colors as well.

The roots of adhesive duct tape can be traced back to the early 1900’s, where a primitive form of duct tape made of cotton duck cloth with an adhesive solution applied to one side was in fairly common use. Known in those days as “duck tape,” it was utilized for all kinds of purposes ranging from shoe repair to steel cable reinforcement. Subsequent research led to a new type of adhesive tape being developed for military use during World War II. Scientists developed a new waterproof tape that could seal ammunition cases and keep them from being damaged by moisture. This tough new tape was able to be ripped by hand instead of having to be cut by scissors, making it very easy to use and quick to apply. The primary distinction between this new version of duct tape and the older “duck tape” was that the new formula utilized a rubber-based adhesive known as “Polycoat” on one side, which provided the tape’s waterproof characteristics. This new version of duct tape began to gain widespread acceptance within the military and was eventually offered for sale in hardware stores after the war.

Once duct tape began to be sold commercially in the 1950s, it was commonly used to wrap air ducts in construction projects. Its usefulness as an all-purpose household repair aid also contributed to its increasing popularity. Not too long after its commercial debut, the moniker “duct tape” came into widespread use to describe this multi-purpose adhesive tape. Albert Arno Incorporated, an HVAC company, took it a step further in 1960 by trademarking the name “Ductape” to describe its highly heat-resistant proprietary duct tape, capable of withstanding temperatures of up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. In the 1970s, a clever businessman named Jack Kahl created a breakthrough branding strategy by trademarking the once-archaic “duck tape” name and then creating a playful cartoon duck logo to go along with it. He devised an aggressive direct mail marketing plan that reached over 32,000 hardware stores, eventually leading his company, Manco, to control approximately 40 percent of the entire duct tape market.

Modern duct tape is manufactured using a layer of any one of a variety of fabrics, known as “fill yarn,” to provide strength. These threads may be polyester, cotton, fiberglass, rayon, or nylon. During the manufacturing process, this thin layer of fabric is then laminated to a low-density polyethylene backing, typically grey in color due to the use of powdered aluminum in the polyethylene. The most common commercially available adhesive duct tape width is 1.9 inches (48mm), although 2-inch (51mm) duct tape is also a popular choice. Rolls of duct tape are usually sold in lengths of 55 meters (approx. 60 yards). Duct tape does not carry any safety certifications such as a UL or Proposition 65 listing; this means that the performance of duct tape can exhibit signs of inconsistency in certain environments or with certain uses. Adhesive duct tape can also pose as an environmental hazard when burned, as it may give off toxic smoke when incinerated.

Duct tape is used in a wide variety of applications. The auto racing industry has long used duct tape as a means to perform makeshift repairs to fiberglass bodywork, as well as other “on-the-fly” jobs. Duct tape has been a “crew member” of every NASA space shuttle mission since 1965, and on one Apollo 13 mission in 1970, duct tape was used to help repair some broken on-board carbon dioxide filters, subsequently saving the lives of three astronauts. Other reported uses have ranged from treating warts to repairing helicopter blades to providing temporary fixes for dropped calls on iPhones.

Adhesive duct tape has proven to be an excellent multi-purpose utility for all types of repair and construction projects. With the extensive variety of imaginative uses that duct tape can inspire, there may be a lot of truth to the statement popularized by authors Jim Berg and Tim Nyberg (a.k.a. “The Duct Tape Guys”): “It ain’t broke; it just lacks duct tape.”

Super Clear Tape

Super clear tape is without a doubt one of the most widely used types of adhesive tapes in the world. Super clear tape is categorized as a pressure-sensitive tape, meaning that the adhesive properties of the tape are enacted by nothing more than putting pressure on the tape when applied. Typical uses of this type of tape include packing and shipping as well as moving and storage.

One of the primary materials utilized in the production of super clear tape is Bi-axially Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP) film, a thermoplastic polymer film that has been machine-stretched in dual directions to offer excellent clarity and a very low level of “haziness” that is often seen in inferior films. BOPP film provides a smooth surface that is highly resistant to chemical alteration and physical abrasion. The dimensional stability and overall flatness of BOPP film make it a plus in terms of ease of use, and it offers water-resistant capabilities as well, providing a good barrier to moisture and water vapor. BOPP film also demonstrates a solid level of stability in terms of response to environmental factors; it is resistant to greases and oils, and it is also far less subject to punctures and flex-cracking in extreme temperatures than other types of adhesive tapes. In addition, the glossy, high-transparency appearance of BOPP film offers aesthetic benefits as well, as it does not detract from the appearance of packages or other products.

The adhesive aspect of super clear tape is typically comprised of an emulsion based acrylic material. The non-adhesive side of the BOPP film is treated with what’s known as a “release agent”, which generally makes the tape easier to work with and manipulate. The side upon which the adhesive will be applied is usually treated with some type of priming material in order to encourage proper bonding with the film. Once the priming process is done, a liquid form of the adhesive is applied in thin layers to film and then rolled into long, high-temperature ovens to complete the process. When the adhesive liquid sits in the hot ovens, the liquid eventually evaporates, causing only the adhesive to remain.

The most common width of super clear adhesive tape is 1.88 inches (approx. 48mm), although there are several other popular widths available on the market as well. The usual office-grade length of the average roll of super clear adhesive tape is about 50 meters (55 yards). The utility and versatility of this tape makes it a prime choice for long term storage. Many inferior tape products will turn yellow or become brittle with age, but super clear tape is known for being resistant to UV rays and keeping its elasticity for prolonged periods of time. It is also a desirable choice in terms of its practicality, since it is able to be written upon with permanent markers. This tape also carries the advantage of being lightweight but yet having remarkable tensile strength, which enables it to withstand several pounds of pressure without ripping or breaking. With so many excellent characteristics, it is obvious to see why super clear tape is considered to be such an indispensable part of the average home and office.

Colored Packing Tape

The packing tapes that are used in sealing cartons for inventory management, shipping and moving traditionally come in the standard brown or transparent color. Those packing tapes do the job, but it has been established that colored packaging tapes could make things easier. Colored packing tape has the same high holding power as the non-colored variety, and it also adheres well to various surfaces such as fiberboard, corrugated cartons, film and paper; however, the colors are the deal-makers. They could be used as a labeling tool, which would enable you to keep the cartons organized.

Performance
Most colored packaging tapes make use of mid-grade polypropylene film (commonly referred to as BOPP on the specifications sheets of most adhesive material). The material has considerable tensile strength and is durable and abrasion-resistant; it also offers minimal elongation, although like all adhesive tapes, they are not guaranteed to be splice-free. The material, however, is also burst-resistant. These tapes are also not hand-tearable so they are often used with dispensers or automatic case sealers. These features, along with the hot melt adhesive featured in most packing tapes, make it the ideal tape for manufacturing, warehousing and shipping.

Adhesives
Colored packing tapes typically come with rubber-resin hot melt adhesive (synthetic). Hot melt adhesive offers optimum flexibility in terms of applications. Packaging tapes with hot melt adhesive typically bond to the surface quickly. This quick and reliable adhesion, in addition to the tensile strength of the material, makes these packing tapes the ideal choice for medium to heavy-weight storage cartons. Note that you do not need heat to make it stick; hot melt merely refers to the process by which the adhesive was applied by the packaging tape manufacturer. Now, acrylic is another widely used adhesive variety in colored packing tapes; it also offers excellent performance and durability even when exposed to moisture and UV rays, but its features make it a better adhesive option for transparent tapes.

Special Requirements
Most colored packing tapes meet the U.S. postal and courier standards for packages. There are also tapes that are partly made from recycled materials, which makes them an environmentally friendly choice. Some are ideal for both manual and automatic sealing.

Specifications
Thickness typically ranges from 1.9 to 2 mil (1/1000 of an inch). Recommended application temperature range is from 35 degrees F to 110 degrees F and operating temperature range is from 20 degrees F to 150 degrees F.

Some manufacturers provide tensile strength statistics; some that are especially developed for warehousing and shipping have tensile strength of 27 lbs per inch (longitudinal) and 44 lbs per inch (transverse).

These colored packaging tapes are available in varying widths, although the most commonly used is the 2-inch variety. Those who can afford to purchase in bulk could generally get the tapes in widths of 3/8, ½, 1, 1.5, 3 and 4 inches, although in such cases, buyers only get to choose a single color. These packaging tapes are typically available in various lengths – 55 yards, 72 yards and 110 yards, with the latter being the standard. The usual options in color include red, black, blue, green, white, orange, pink, yellow and purple.

Applications
Packing tapes are widely used in keeping packages secured particularly during moving or shipping, but the colored ones are especially handy because they ensure efficiency. With colored packaging tapes, you can easily implement a labeling system of sorts. It would be an easy way to organize the packages. During inventory management, there would be no need to closely read and examine the contents after the initial labeling. Warehousing would be more efficient because of product organization and separation.

Shipping and delivery could be faster as well, because of faster product identification. You could also use the colors to indicate the logistics company that would be taking care of certain packages.

These tapes could be handy in moving as well because they enable you to organize your items and let you know outright about the kind of items that a certain box is supposed to contain. You could set it in such a way that a certain color could indicate the box that contains items for a particular room. There are even readily available specialty kits of colored packaging tapes for moving; some kits contain specially marked tapes for fragile items.

Colored packing tapes are the adhesive solutions of the future; they may feature virtually the same technology used in their brown and transparent counterparts, but they offer a lot in terms of making inventory control processes easier.

Adhesive Foam Tape

Adhesive foam tape is widely used nowadays (mainly in the automotive industry) in order to distribute stress evenly and to fill gaps. This type of foam works best for bonding irregular or rough surfaces, and two of the most commonly used types of foam are urethane and polyethylene, given their numerous properties.

At the same time, it must be said that the pressure-sensitive foam tapes can come with a feature known as “triboluminescence”, which basically makes them visible in the dark as soon as they are peeled off the dispenser roll. These tapes come in a wide array of backing materials and they are coated with a special adhesive that makes them durable in the long run. Also, they are resistant to moisture levels up to 50%-60%.

The double sided foam tape has an average thickness of 0.8 cm, although it is available in thicknesses ranging from 6mm to 50mm. The tape is permanently adhesive and it can be coated either on one side or on both sides, with medium-density foam (either black or white).

One of the most notable features of the adhesive foam tape is that it is resistant to harsh weather conditions, and it can also withstand UV rays and moisture. The open-cell rolls measure 5 to 10 meters in length, depending on their area of application and width of the tape.

Some tapes also come with a rubber-based foam that is sensitive to pressure, and can withstand temperatures ranging between -20 degrees Celsius to 50 degrees Celsius. For the best results, the amount of air moisture should not exceed 50% and the average temperature should be around 20 degrees Celsius at the time of the application.

The tape can be applied either on dry surfaces or with intermittent wetting, depending on the type of adhesive that is used. Apart from these conditions, the adhesive foam tape requires increased amount of pressure, for optimal adhesion. The surface needs to be clean, dry and free of dirt or oil – the quality of the surface influences the life span of the adhesive foam tape. Also, this product comes with a shelf life ranging between one and three years, provided that it is stored based on the recommended storage guidelines.

This type of tape is usually used for light duty applications, it has a low density of 6lbs/cubic foot and it can come with a special liner made from polycoated Kraft paper. The tape is available in a wide range of colors although black and white are the most commonly used ones, and the foam-based backing material ensures proper insulation.

Additional benefits of the foam-based adhesive tape include: preventing glass from sinking or sliding (in this case, tapes that contain urethane foam are the most suitable), preventing leakage, offering an elegant and appealing professional finish and reducing road noise (when used for vehicles).

Urethane with a high degree of viscosity is mainly used because of its slower cure rates, and this tape is usually placed on one side of the car body right after the windshield has been placed. The urethane adhesive tape comes in large reels of single-sided foam and it is used to prevent the vertical movement of the windshield over the years.

As mentioned above, the adhesive foam tape is mainly used for covering holes and for providing extra insulation – it is suitable for additional adherence and sealing (this is why it is commonly used around doors and windows), and it is commonly used in workshops, garages, gardens, service shops, offices, homes and such.

Given the fact that the tape has high sheer strength and it is suitable both for interior and exterior mounting application, the adhesive foam tape is perfect for mounting, attaching and bonding. Mainly used for general, industrial purposes, the foam tape offers a dust proof and weather proof seal that has an extremely high initial tack.

Moreover, the tape is easily conformable, it sticks quickly and it is suitable for irregular surfaces – this, along with the fact that it is made from closed-cell foam makes the tape perfect for general industrial and electronic applications. The adhesive foam tape is very versatile and suitable for a wide array of bonding surfaces: it can be used on steel, nylon, glass, rubber, acrylics, ABS, aluminum, vinyl and even painted surfaces.

BOPP Jumbo Rolls

BOPP Jumbo Rolls are special kinds of massive adhesive tapes as the name suggests. This special type of adhesive tapes are common in the packaging industry for applications such as sealing cartons. It is however important to note that the tapes have many other applications. The most important thing to note is that BOPP Jumbo Rolls are mostly used for large-scale industrial applications.

It is also important to note that there are other BOPP Jumbo Roll features apart from large scale application i.e. excellent holding power that makes them idea. This feature is one of the main reasons why BOPP Jumbo Rolls are used for large-scale packaging industry applications.

Other features such as durability and tear resistance also make BOPP Jumbo Rolls suitable for serious applications. The fact that BOPP Rolls come in a variety of colors and prints also makes them popular. There are very few industrial adhesive tapes offering the kind of variety BOPP Jumbo Rolls offer.

For instance, it is possible to buy BOPP Jumbo Rolls in any thickness and width. This is very rare with large-scale adhesive tapes however BOPP Jumbo Rolls address this by offering the best size variety. Below are the most common types of BOPP Jumbo Rolls in the market today.

Custom printed BOPP Jumbo Rolls
As the name suggests, these are Jumbo Rolls which have been custom printed according to customer specifications. Custom printed BOPP Jumbo Rolls are usually available in a variety of logo prints and colours according to customer specifications. These adhesive tapes are customized with any kind of message, date code, part number, logo e.t.c making them ideal for sealing and binding applications. The tapes are usually made using high quality bi-oriented polypropylene films with custom printed acrylic adhesives. Custom printed BOPP Jumbo Rolls are simply the best adhesive tapes for large-scale customized wrapping and/or packaging applications.

BOPP Self Adhesive Jumbo Rolls
These Jumbo Rolls are the most ideal for manual dispenser machine and automatic carton sealing machine applications. BOPP Self Adhesive Jumbo Rolls are made using water based acrylic adhesive. This gives the adhesive tape features such as; excellent UV resistance, unsurpassable adhesion, excellent shelf life and superior impact resistance. Like custom printed BOPP Jumbo Rolls, BOPP Self Adhesive Jumbo Rolls are available in a wide variety of sizes and colors. The tapes are available in 7 main colors namely; brown, super clear, white, blue, red, yellow and green.

It is important to note that there are many types of BOPP Self Adhesive Jumbo Rolls. They are categorized according to factors such as function, color, application e.t.c. The most common types of BOPP Self Adhesive Jumbo Rolls include; transparent, plain and brown tapes, stationery tapes, industrial grade tapes and packing tapes. It is also important to note that apart from the adhesive tapes being made using water based acrylic, BOPP Self Adhesive Jumbo Rolls are also made using flexographic and UV Letter presses.

BOPP Jumbo Roll wrapping adhesive tapes
As the name suggests, these adhesive tapes are specifically designed for wrapping applications. The adhesive tapes are ideal for wrapping/sealing carton flaps or other fixations. The tapes come in two main color varieties namely; standard brown or blank color. It is however possible to get BOPP Jumbo Roll wrapping adhesive tapes in other colors such as red, white, yellow, blue and green on request. These adhesive tapes are ideal for both hand and machine use however because of the size of the tapes, machine use is more ideal.

Some of the main BOPP Jumbo Roll wrapping adhesive tape features include; high heat resistance, strong and elastic in tension, UV proof and damp proof. The tape is also customizable. BOPP Jumbo Roll wrapping adhesive tapes are delivered in 3 main adhesive types. One of the most common adhesive types is acrylate which is a water-based adhesive. The adhesive is common in standard applications requiring quick adhesive effect. It is however important to note that the adhesive isn’t suitable for low temperature applications.

Another common adhesive type is hotmelt- rubber based synthetic adhesive. Although the adhesive reaches maximum adhesive effect quickly, it is not as fast as acrylate adhesive. The adhesive is suitable for wide temperature range applications unlike acrylate adhesive. The last adhesive type is solvent. This adhesive type is rubber based. It is a very high performance top-grade quality adhesive.

Stationery Tape

Also known as “Cellophane Tape” or “Sticky Tape”, stationery tape is used for general purposes and it can be found in most offices nowadays. This multi-purpose tape is small and compact, easy to use and it comes in handy for fixing torn paper or for a variety of crafts and similar paper-related projects. The stationery tapes are very economical and they are made from polypropylene along with acrylic adhesive.

The stationery tape cannot be reloaded, and it usually comes with a disposable dispenser or a permanent one that can be reloaded. The conventional desk dispenser can accommodate tape rolls of up to one inch in width, a diameter of 5 inches and a core of 3 inches.

The tape comes under the form of rolls that range in width from 12 mm to up to 25 mm. At the same time, stationery tape can be purchased as pre-cut strips as well – this form is safer for children, given the fact that they do not involve a cutting blade, like the standard tape dispensers do. Besides, it is more cost-effective and more environmentally-friendly as well.

Generally speaking, this tape comes in three different finishes: matte finish, transparent or translucent finish. The benefit of tape with matte finish is that it can be safely used for fixing torn paper without appearing on photocopies, and it can also be written on using a marker or a pen. The transparent finish, on the other hand, has a glossy appearance on which you cannot write, while the translucent one is very likely to turn yellow as the years pass.

The high-quality acetate tape is free of acid, thus it can adhere better to certain surfaces, it has a longer life span and it does not change its color in time. The rolls usually have standard sizes and they can match the classic desktop tape dispensers, and they are suitable for paper mending, package sealing or wrapping. Some of them even come with a matte-finish removable tape that provides a temporary bond, which makes them perfect for ongoing projects and scrapbooks where you have to remove the tape at a certain point – this way, you can do that without having to worry about damaging the paper.

This type of tape relies on a special adhesive (AAA, acronym for “Aqueous Acrylic Adhesive”) that can influence the color of the tape: it can make it white, yellow, brown or colorful. The tape comes with different backing material coatings as well, and the BOPP-Tenter is the most commonly used one because it is efficient and cost-effective. The average thickness of this tape ranges between 35 and 65 mic, and the width ranges anywhere from 12mm to 300mm, depending on the areas of application and the type of finish.

Besides the fact that the matte finish can be easily photocopied and written one, it can also be faxed without a trace, it is very resistant to aging, cracks and sudden temperature changes, as well as to direct sunlight and mild levels of moisture. Small and compact yet with a strong adhesive force, the stationery tape is highly antioxidant and has high waterproof/heatproof performance. The tape is 100% safe to use, easy to slit and non-toxic, although it is recommended to keep it out of the reach of children.

The stationery tape that is made from polypropylene film is strip-able, and depending on the type of adhesive it can generate sound or be silent when people open the roll. Easy to recycle, this tape can come with high-quality Kraft paper coating that is 100% biodegradable. The larger version of the tape is suitable for carton-sealing and for unitized shipping.

The stationery tape is omnipresent in offices all around the world, and it is perfect for creating scrapbooks and school projects, for reinforcing documents, light mending or packaging, sealing, gift wrapping, photo projects and even archival applications. At the same time, the stationery tape is suitable for art class projects and even for sealing small containers.

On the other hand, the invisible stationery tape rolls, for instance, are perfect for repairing archive material and for mending – they are versatile enough to allow you to type on them, when you apply them onto typing paper. You can join and repair documents quickly and effortlessly, and the built-in razor-sharp blade allows you to cut clean, neat strips of tape of various lengths.

Printed Packing Tape

Most people don’t put very much thought into packing tape. It is simply a product they run to the store to purchase when they need to seal some boxes to ship or to move, and there are only a few things people want from their packing tape: 1) it sticks, and 2) it is easily torn. But the truth is, not all packing tapes are created the same. Printed packing tape can create a custom look to packages or boxes you are shipping while providing a quality adhesive that stays put and is easy to use.

Type of Printed Packing Tapes
This type of tape can come in a variety of materials, sizes, and adhesive quality. There are also different widths, uses, and dispensers associated with packing tape. Here are a few different types of printed packing tape:

Paper reinforced printed tape. Paper adhesive packing tape is versatile and easy to use. It is reinforced with fiberglass filaments between two layers of paper with adhesive backing. Printed paper tape is a good way to stay environmentally friendly with your products and shipping methods while still customizing your packaging. The printed tape can display whatever type of message you want to for your personal or business needs. It can be a basic message such as “FRAGILE”, or a more in-depth description, company logo, or package contents.

Polypropylene film printed tape. Used for light to medium sealing needs, this type of packing tape is thin, flexible, and easy to use. It is easily torn or cut from the roll and is created in a variety of different widths and sizes. This type of printed packing tape is easier to tear than reinforced paper tape, and is suitable for use with hand dispensers. Typically clear or tan in color, printed polypropylene tapes can come in a variety of colors with messages of varying sizes and colors as well.

Filament polypropylene film printed tape. This type of printed tape is tensiled with filaments which makes it suitable for industrial sized jobs. Appliances are often packaged in this type of tape. A printed filament polypropylene film tape for shipping appliances or large items is extremely beneficial to note shipping instructions, i.e. “this end up”, “fragile”, “team lift”, “top heavy”, etc. Because of the reinforcing in this type of printed packaging tape, it is typically used for larger jobs and can therefore be used to pass on important information regarding the item being packaged, shipped, or transported.

PVC carton sealing printed packing tape. A lot of people prefer this type of adhesive carton sealing tape because it is easy to apply, chatter resistant, and provides a quick, easy performance for those who use packing tapes frequently. It has a rubber-based adhesive and is excellent for sealing flaps in a single pass. Printing on this type of tape can be customized to suit individual needs and can vary from return address information to opening instructions, or can also present a warning such as “this end up” or “handle with care”. This type of printed packing tape is versatile and easy to use for just about anybody and it also comes in a variety of colors and sizes.

Custom Messages
There are any number of custom messages that can be added to your printed tape. Businesses can utilize this type of advertising to add their logo to a product being shipped. For specialty businesses, custom messages on packing tape can include the contents of the package, care instructions, storage directions, or care instructions for the product or products. For special occasions, printed packing tape can include special messages for birthdays, weddings, or just about any type of special event.

Pre-Printed Messages
Pre-printed messages are standard printed messages that is frequently seen on different types of packing tape. It can say “this end up”, “fragile”, “handle with care,” “keep cold,” etc. These pre-printed messages on printed packing tape are multi-functional and all-purpose.

There are a lot of different types of printed packing tape for any of your shipping needs. They are available in a variety of materials, textures, and adhesive types. From personal packing needs to industrial packing needs, printed packing tapes can offer businesses or individuals the opportunity to advertise or advise recipients of packages how to handle or care for the contents inside. They can be customized to meet specific business needs, or pre-printed with standard warnings or sayings to draw attention to your package.

Double Sided Adhesive Tape

Double sided adhesive tape refers to any kind of pressure sensitive adhesive tape coated with adhesive on both sides. The tape is specifically designed to stick two surfaces together in a way that isn’t visible on the end product. This is because of the tapes application i.e. it is usually used between objects as opposed to overlaying them. The main purpose behind using double-sided adhesive tape is offering neater looking projects i.e. paintings. It would be impossible to produce neat paintings without using double-sided adhesive tape. The tape therefore promotes better craftsmanship.

There two main categories of double sided adhesive tapes namely; thin or dimensional. Thin tape is used for simple/light applications. Dimensional double sided tape is usually thicker than thin double sided adhesive tape. The tape is used for serious/heavy duty applications i.e. signage and retail uses to allow displays and signs to stand out producing a 3 dimensional effect.

Production
Double sided adhesive tape is made by applying thin adhesive layers to either sides of carrier material. This is the same theory used in the production of double sided toilet paper which is double sided and easy to rip. The paper is created by applying adhesive on either sides of toilet paper which is wound using siliconed paper to prevent instances such as; the paper sticking to itself. Another important thing to note about double sided adhesive tape production is the form in which the tape is manufactured. Most double sided adhesive tapes are produced in log forms which vary in size from 1 to 3 meters in width. The tape is then slit into other sizes.

Common types of double sided adhesive tape
There are very many types of double sided adhesive tapes. The tapes are divided according to many factors i.e. use, size, material etc. One of the most common types of double sided adhesive tapes is clothing tape. The tape is usually used alongside loose skirts and strapless dresses to ensure they are secured to the skin. The tapes are also used for temporary fixes i.e. fallen hems among other types of clothing imperfections.

Some of the most popular types of double sided adhesive tapes include; ATG Transfer Tape, double sided cloth tape, double Sided Foam tape, Exhibition Cloth tape, Stationery Grade tape, Plasticizer / Resist (Eco) tape, Tissue Tape (Eco) tape and Ultra High Bond Tape.

Applications
Double sided adhesive tapes have a very wide application in commercial and domestic environments. Your focus should therefore be selecting tape according to particular applications. This requires understanding the bond requirements you want to achieve. Below are common double sided adhesive tapes that cover almost all kind of applications you can think of. It is however important to seek the assistance of a professional for highly specialized applications.

1. Ultra high bond clear double sided adhesive tape
This is one of the most common types of double sided adhesive tapes. The tape is popular because it is versatile i.e. the tape can be used in very many applications. As the name suggests, the tape is also clear which makes it suitable for neat, invisible applications. The tape has excellent ageing and UV light resistance. The temperature tolerance is also impressive (-40 to + 120 degrees Celsius). For the best application, the tape should be installed on clean dry surfaces. The tape costs approximately $35.

2. Double sided dispenser tape
This is another common type of double sided tape. At a cost of $10, you get a clear high performance tape (ATG dispenser tape).
